Passenger traffic at Georgian airports down 7.3% in July

Georgia’s five airports – three international (Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi) and two local (Mestia and Ambrolauri) – served 571,848 passengers in July 2019, which is a 7.3% decrease in comparison to last year, according to the United Airports of Georgia.

"The 7.3% decline in passenger traffic was caused by the suspension of direct flights to Russia starting July 8, 2019," Agenda.ge cited the report as saying.

Passenger traffic in July 2019 was the following: Tbilisi International Airport served 384,632 passengers (10% decrease y/y), Kutaisi International Airport served 85,738 passengers (14% increase), Batumi International Airport served 100,432 passengers (9.8% decrease y/y), Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia, Svaneti region, served 819 passengers (10% increase y/y), Ambrolauri airport in Georgia’s Racha region served 227 passengers (5.4% decrease y/y).


In January-July 2019, the growth rate of passenger traffic decreased from 18 to 12%. In this period, Georgian airports served 3,058,473 passengers, which is 12% more compared to 2018.
