Religious leaders play an important role in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill said in a traditional Christmas interview with the Rossiya TV channel.
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church hopes that peace will finally reign in the region, this follows from the position taken by the church and religious authorities of Azerbaijan and Armenia. He recalled that the Russian Orthodox Church had earlier initiated a discussion of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with the participation of Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Allahshukur Pashazade and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, several rounds of negotiations were held, as a result of which much was agreed.
