Pavel Astakhov reports about 15 children dead in Karelia

On Saturday, several boats carrying a 51-member group, consisting of children and their adult instructors, capsized in Syamozero lake during a storm.

According to the Investigative Committee's data, 14 people died, all of them children, Sputnik reports.

"According to the most recent data, 15 dead bodies of children were found in Karelia. A monstrous tragedy, bitter loss. I express my sincere condolences to all the relatives," Russian Children's Rights Commissioner Pavel Astakhov said via Twitter.

He added that the cause of children's death could have been the lack of life jackets on the boats.
