Pavel Astakhov to step down as children's ombudsman after birthday, source at Kremlin says

Pavel Astakhov will step down as the presidential children's ombudsman after his 50-years anniversary, a high-ranking source at the Kremlin told reporters on Saturday, TASS reports.

Pavel Astakhov took the office on December 30, 2009. He became Russia’s ombudsman on children’s rights.

The media wrote earlier Astakhov had filed a resignation application, but his office did not confirm the information.
