Pentagon: US don't want to be enemies with Russia

Pentagon chief Ashton Carter said today that the US don't want to see Russia as an enemy, stressing that Washington should continue to seek opportunities for cooperation with Moscow in areas beneficial for both countries.

Speaking at the security forum in California, he began his speech with criticism of Russia's actions in foreign countries, accused it of cyber attacks on the US, but immediately said that Washington does not need any kind of war with Moscow.

"The US don't want to see Russia as an enemy, but we will protect our allies," he said.
