Magomed-Rasul Rasulov was born in 1936 in the village of Kubachi. He graduated from the Stalsky Pedagogical Institute in Dagestan and the Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow. Then, at different times he headed the editorial offices of the republican newspaper Leninskoye Znamya and children's magazine Sokolenok. He was a director of Dagknigoizdat.
