Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's motion on sending troops to Azerbaijan relates to ensuring the operation of a joint Russian Turkish monitoring center in Azerbaijan, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
"The point is that there will be a monitoring center in Azerbaijan. It is necessary to send the Turkish military there," TASS cited the Kremlin spokesman as saying.
"This is an internal procedure provided by the legislation of the Republic of Turkey. This is Turkey's internal affair. As for the agreement on the establishment of a joint monitoring center in Azerbaijan, it is a product of a bilateral agreement between Russia and Turkey," Peskov concluded.
Earlier today, the Turkish Presidency submitted this motion to the parliament. The motion will be voted on in the parliament on Tuesday.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on a complete ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Russian leader said the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides would remain on the positions they hold and Russian peacekeepers would be deployed to the region. Besides, Armenia and Azerbaijan should carry out the exchange of prisoners of war and the bodies of those killed. Aghdam region will be returned to Azerbaijan before November 20, Kelbajar region - before November 15, Lachin region - before December 1.
