Azerbaijani gymnast Petro Pakhnyuk has advanced to finals in floor exercises at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics in Baku.
He scored 14.95 points and was beat only by Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat (15.15 points) in the qualification event. Japanese gymnast, triple world champion Kenzo Shirai was ranked third with 14.85 points.
Petro Pakhnyuk in conversation with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza admitted that he was pleased with the performance. "Floor exercises were done well, without mistakes. I think that I will reach the final because the leading guys have performed already, and I've got more points," he said.
Also he commented on his performance on the pommel horse. "There was a very hurtful mistake. The pommel horse is an accurate discipline, this time it was the first one, and it's always harder with the first one, so I lost control and fell," Petro Pakhnyuk said.
Speaking about the World Cup as a whole, the athlete emphasized the high level of competitions.
