Tomorrow the Portrait of Maria Akimova is to leave an exhibition of works by Valentin Serov, which is currently taking place at the Tretyakov Gallery.
The exhibition was extended to January 31st, but the picture belongs to the National Gallery of Armenia, so according to the Customs Code the painting must be returned no later than 00:01 on January 29th, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Zelfira Tregulova, some other paintings will also be sent back home. ‘‘The Portrait of Lions from the Arce Museum in Paris, the Portrait of Alexander III from the headquarters of the Royal Life Guards in Copenhagen, the 'Window Sketch' from Belarus, as well as the Portrait of Maria Akimova.
