The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Russia, Polad Bulbuloglu, noted the historical value of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Security signed on July 3, 1997 between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
"It is a basic agreement, postulating the political bases of our bilateral relations," he stressed. "Based on its provisions, we have been developing cooperation in various fields over the past two decades," the diplomat said.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia called "the desire of the parties for mutually beneficial cooperation on an equal basis in the interests of both countries and their peoples" the main message of this key document. "It also includes the issues of maintaining peace and security, as well as clearly outlines the international legal framework of mutual obligations in this direction," TASS cited him as saying.
The diplomat noted that over 20 years, there have been major changes in almost all regions of the post-Soviet space. "Over the years, both our countries have come a long way of development from overcoming the crisis consequences of the collapse of the USSR to developing new development models oriented to the future," Polad Bulbuloglu said. "The development of relations with Russia is one of the priority directions of Azerbaijan's foreign policy," he pointed out.
Polad Bulbul oglu also drew attention to the fact that cultural ties between the two countries have never been interrupted.
