The Azerbaijani nation, while being peaceful, will never give a single inch of its land to anyone, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, Polad Bulbuloglu, stated.
"I would like to say to all people of good will of Russia, that Azerbaijanis are peaceful people, Azerbaijanis never wanted to fight, but we are forced to do so. And no country, no nation ever will give even inch of its land. Including Azerbaijan. As long as Azerbaijanis are alive, no one will give Karabakh to anyone. And those who want to resolve this issue should approach this from the position that it is Azerbaijani land, and sooner or later it will belong to Azerbaijan," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza quoted him as saying.
Also, the diplomat expressed his gratitude to all those who came to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia for the mourning events. "I want you to thank you sincerely for the fact that you found time, came together with our people, with young people, together with the employees of embassy, to lay flowers, photos of the war victims who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Karabakh, for our land," he stressed.
Recall, on the night of April 2 all frontier positions of Azerbaijan were exposed to heavy fire from large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenade launchers and guns. In addition, Azerbaijani settlements near the front line, densely populated by civilians, were shelled.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20% of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
