Ukrainian President Poroshenko today made a statement about the need to expand and extend the sanctions against Russia if supports the holding of elections in the self-proclaimed and unrecognized republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.
"If Russia approves them, it would be a brutal violation by Russia of the Minsk agreements. We must take the appropriate steps in response. It may be an extension or renewal of sanctions, it may be other tools that are in the hands of the international community in order to create the motivation to return Russia to the negotiating table," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
