President urges to check sanctioned judges in Georgia

The Georgian President considers it necessary to launch an investigation into Georgian judges sanctioned by the US.

According to Salome Zurabishvili, she is concerned that the EU may perceive the US restrictions as a negative signal when deciding on the status of a candidate for membership in the organization.

The President expressed the opinion that it was the sanctioned judges who had been involved in the formation of a judicial system full of shortcomings.

The politician said that the current judicial system in Georgia needed to be reformed. It should become absolutely independent.
