Russia has always believed that ‘sports and politics don’t mix’ and is ready to cooperate with everyone in order to bolster a creative start for sports, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the FIFA Congress.
"I would like to underline that FIFA is committed to the principle of keeping politics out of sports,’" TASS cited Putin as saying.
"Russia has always adhered to such approaches and is striving for the closest cooperation with everyone who is determined to develop and enhance a creative beginning for sports and its boundless humanistic potential," the head of state added.
Putin stressed that Russia is ready to host the World Cup and ensure that all people who come here will have the finest amenities and the best positive attitudes.
