Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a conference held jointly with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday that a country like Azerbaijan can buy weapons wherever it likes.
"As far as weapons are concerned, we work with Armenia under a program. Armenia is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). It is our ally and we have reciprocal obligations. Russia always sticks to its commitments," TASS cited the Russian president as saying.
The Russian leader added that any country could purchase practically any weapon at a modern arms market. "A country like Azerbaijan, which is an oil producer with a fast growing economy and a sufficient amount of gold reserves, can certainly buy it wherever it likes," Putin said.
At the same time, he stressed the need to resolve the existing problems peacefully.
