The US decision not to receive a Russian delegation indicates the weakness of its stance on the Syrian issue, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following his meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"I don't understand why Washington criticizes Russia’s operation in Syria, as it refuses to hold a direct dialogue itself," the Russian leader said, adding that "this position is unconstructive."
"The weakness of this stance is based on the apparent lack of any agenda. But we are leaving the door open for discussion with all the parties, including the US," Putin stated.
"We were ready to send a big delegation to Washington, led by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, which might include top-ranking military and security officers," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. But the United States replied that it cannot send a delegation to Moscow and receive a delegation in Washington too.
