Russian President Vladimir Putin was kept informed about the rescue operation in Karelia after a deadly accident claiming the lives of 14 children, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"The president extends his deepest condolences over the tragedy that claimed the lives of 14 children," TASS cited Peskov as saying.
"He gave instruction on the organization of assistance to the survivors and to the families of those killed in the accident. Apart from that, the president issues corresponding instruction of the Investigations Committee to establish the causes of the tragedy and find those responsible for it," Peskov added.
