Cadre reshuffle announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday is not election-related, it is a regular rotation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, Sputnik reports.
Putin has dismissed several governors and accepted the resignation of the head of the Customs Service and replaced them with high-ranking officials with security and law-enforcement background.
"These decisions are not related to reshuffle in the Federal Security Service or directly to elections," Peskov told reporters in a conference call.
"It is a regular rotation work conducted by the head of state, which is aimed at increasing the effectiveness in some cases, and at fixing problems in other cases when the situation is not satisfactory," Peskov stressed.
