Putin sets off for SCO and BRICS summits


Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to arrive in Ufa, where the SCO and BRICS summits will be held in the next three days.


Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the activities of the BRICS Summit will be started today – the leaders of the P5 will hold an informal lunch in the evening.


July 9 they will meet with representatives of trade unions of the BRICS and members of the Business Council. Then the heads of state will gather in a narrow format, part of this meeting will take place as a working breakfast. According to Ushakov, they will discuss the situation in Ukraine and Greece, as well as the fight against Islamic State. After there will be a meeting in an expanded format and a ceremony of signing documents.


Vladimir Putin will also sum up the summit and hold bilateral meetings. There will be an informal meeting of the leaders of member countries of the BRICS, the SCO and the EEU, as well as a reception in honor of the participants of the BRICS. At the meeting "they will discuss the whole situation in Eurasia and the establishment of enhanced cooperation in this area," TASS cited Ushakov as saying.


Speaking about the documents that are expected to be signed, the Russian presidential aide mentioned the Ufa Declaration and the Action Plan.
