Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold his annual meeting with heads of the country’s media outlets on Wednesday, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, adding that the meeting would take place via video conference behind closed doors.
"[Putin] will hold his traditional annual meeting tonight, which hasn’t taken place for about a year. He will hold a conversation with the chief editors of Russian media outlets, including electronic media, radio stations, online news outlets and printed media," TASS cited Peskov as saying.
According to him, the event has no particular agenda. "The chief editors and heads of media outlets usually have a chance to sort out the issues that they don’t fully understand and would like to thoroughly discuss with the president and raise before him. Putin tends to hold such meetings once a year. However, unfortunately, this year it will be a video meeting," the presidential spokesman noted.
Peskov said that the Russian president would also hold a video conference meeting with cabinet members on Wednesday. The meeting will be focused on ways to improve Russia’s bankruptcy system, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov is expected to present a report on the matter.
In addition, Putin is scheduled to hold a number of private meetings on Wednesday, Peskov added.
The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that the president had earlier sent greetings to Russian diplomatic workers on Diplomats’ Day.
