Record number of landslides occurred in Georgia during year

According to the statistics from the National Environmental Agency, 1,360 landslides were registered in Georgia in 2023.

This is the largest number of landslide processes that have occurred in the republic over the past 12 years. In 2011, only 94 landslides were registered, Sputnik Georgia reports.

Today, Georgia is one of the most difficult mountain regions in the world in terms of the development of spontaneous geological processes, as well as in terms of the level of damage to the territory and threats to the population and infrastructure.
