Turkey's opposition alliance will nominate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as its candidate for the upcoming presidential election in May.
The Turkish opposition alliance announced Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as its candidate against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the May elections, according to Hürriyet.
Earlier, Meral Akşener, the leader of the nationalist Good Party said she would not support a Kılıçdaroğlu candidacy and left the six-party bloc. She accused members of the alliance of pressuring her party. But Kılıçdaroğlu was still supported by five smaller parties in the alliance.
On Monday, Akşener revealed she would rejoin the alliance if either mayors of Istanbul or Ankara were nominated.
