Responsible for terrorist attack in Istanbul airport to spend more than 3000 years in prison

People accused of involvement in a shooting-and-suicide bombing attack at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport in June will be sentenced to several life terms in prison, according to an indictment cited by the state-run Anadolu Agency.

45 people will be sentenced for attempts to "overthrow the constitutional order" and "premeditated murder". 41 of them are arrested.

The indictment also seeks life imprisonment for several other suspects who are on the run and will be tried in absentia. 

According to the Turkish Penal Code, a joint life sentence for all these crimes ranges from 2132 to 3342 years in prison.

The airport attack on June 28, 2016, killed 44 people.
