Russia plans to abandon the acquisition of foreign civil aircraft and start its own aircraft industry, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said at a meeting on aviation development.
He stressed that the authorities do not intend to buy planes abroad, if they can be made in Russia.
"It's a tough barrier, which we impose to protect the domestic market, based on the fact that we are a great aviation power, and it is a shame to buy foreign aircraft," TASS cited him as saying.
