The Russian side may be involved in the development of the scientific and research center based at the existing nuclear facility in Iran’s Fordow under Tehran’s deal with the P5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany), a Western delegation source said.
According to the source, the project will be implemented by Russia’s Rosatom "if such a scheme will be agreed finally and in detail," TASS cited the source.
Iran and the P5+1 group have come to an understanding on solving the issues linked to the reactor in Arak and the facility in Fordow. Later, an Iranian diplomat said that China may get a significant share in a consortium on the reconstruction of a heavy-water reactor in Iran’s Arak province.
The facility is due to be used for conducting scientific research into the sphere of the peaceful application of nuclear power.
