Russia’s COVID-19 cases surge by almost 89,000

Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 89,174 over the past day to 16,775,024, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Friday.

In relative terms, the growth rate reached 0.53%.

As many as 9,849 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 7.3% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients declined in 55 regions, while in 29 other regions the figure increased. The situation remained unchanged in one region. A day earlier, 10,620 people were rushed to hospitals.

Moscow’s COVID-19 cases surged by 2,463 over the past day versus 2,683 a day earlier, reaching 2,706,980, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis center. St. Petersburg’s COVID-19 cases increased by 3,422 over the past day versus 3,562 a day earlier, reaching 1,452,714.

Russia’s COVID-19 death toll surged by 776 over the past day to 354,787. A day earlier 781 COVID-19 deaths were registered. The average mortality rate dropped to 2.11%, according to the crisis center.

Russia’s COVID-19 recoveries rose by 160,507 over the past day, reaching 14,263,191. The share of patients discharged from hospitals has risen to 85% of the total number of those infected. A day earlier some 170,689 patients recovered.

The number of patients undergoing outpatient treatment rose to 2,157,046.
