Russia’s grain harvest to exceed last year’s level in 2022

Russia’s grain harvest may notably exceed last year’s level in 2022, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev told a forum on Friday.

"Russia’s grain harvest may notably surpass last year’s results in 2022 and reach the levels that President spoke about, in fact - approach its maximum," the minister said.

The country’s self-sufficiency in grain reached 150% in 2021, he added, noting that "the average harvest stably surpassed 120 mln tonnes over the past five years."

According to data provided by the national statistics service Rosstat, Russia’s grain harvest amounted to 121.4 mln tonnes in 2021, and 133.5 mln tonnes in 2020. President Vladimir Putin said earlier that the country’s grain harvest might reach 130 mln tonnes this year.
