On May 26, Dushanbe hosted talks between Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani. This was reported in the Security Council of the Russian Federation's press service.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the cooperation between the two countries via law enforcement agencies, special services and law enforcement agencies, as well as international topics.
"The parties noted that in the current geopolitical situation, Russia and Iran are facing a number of serious challenges and threats, in connection with which they emphasized the importance of strengthening Russian-Iranian cooperation in the field of security", the statement said.
In addition to this, Patrushev and Shamkhani talked about the prospects for trade and economic relations between Russia and the Islamic Republic.
