The pan-Russian anti-corruption public organization Clean Hands has published a report according to which the annual average amount of bribes in Russia grew by 200% from 218 to 613 thousand rubles. The author of the report gives two explanations for the current situation: firstly, an increase of bribes to the dollar of 40%, and secondly, the devaluation of the ruble.
According to estimates of the organization Clean Hands, the corruption turnover in Russia has now reached 54% of GDP and broken the record of 2012 of 52.6% of GDP.
According to the speakers, this has happened due to the economic crisis and the transition to ‘manual control’ in a number of sectors of the economy.
