Since the beginning of the year Armenia has exported 50,315 tons of fruit and vegetables.
It's much better than the figures of 2014, when during all 12 months only 46,450 tonnes were exported from the country.
Of them, 83% fell to the share of Russia, whereas a year ago the Russian Federation imported only 30% of Armenian fruit and vegetables, NEWS.am reports.
In an interview with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, Assistant of Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Alexey Alekseenko expressed his opinion that "the growth of supplies from Armenia to Russia is linked to the fact that the Russian market continues to attract the attention of suppliers from such countries." "They are well aware that the Russian food market is going through a profound transformation, and even in case of cancellation of our retaliatory economic measures, it will never be the same. Companies that have now signed long-term contracts with Russian partners will get the advantage," he noted.
An employee of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the Center for Strategic Development and Prediction, Alexander Gusev, shared the same view. "Here, of course, there are two sides of the coin. It is also support for domestic business, in other words the entrepreneurial community. They began allocating loans, including loans to agricultural producers. It should be considered that Russia financially helped the Republic of Armenia to a large extent, this should also be taken into account. Armenia became a full member of the EAEU, so those economic and financial preferences in Russia, which the Republic of Armenia received, helped the agricultural and rural sector to stabilize its own condition. Russia did this intentionally and it was based on the logic of the current economic and political situation in our country, because Armenia is our traditional trading partner," he believes.
