Russia plans to boost economic cooperation with Azerbaijan

Russia considers the possibility to fund 20 joint projects with Azerbaijan. According to the Russian Export Center (REC), these are the projects in such sectors as chemical industry, agriculture, radio-electronic industry and so on.

The REC also reported that 11 of the Russian-Azerbaijani projects received over $410 million of financial support so far.

Center explained that the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council will also contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation. "A working meeting between the chairman of the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council Peter Fradkov and Chairman of the Azerbaijani-Russian Business Council Iskander Khalilov was held on September 11," the REC recalled.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to create the list of specific Russian-Azerbaijani economic projects by the end of 2016, Trend reports.

Today Russia has invested more than $3 billion in Azerbaijan's economy, Azerbaijan - over $1 billion in the Russian economy. There are about 600 companies with Russian capital in Azerbaijan, including 200 companies with one hundred percent Russian capital.
