Russia revives children's cinema

There's going to be a sequel to legendary Soviet musical comedy "Mary Poppins, Goodbye". Modern young viewers will once again meet main nanny of the country, Natalia Andreichenko. Overall, the movie will be full of "stars" - one of the most recognizable and demanded modern Russian actresses, Svetlana Khodchenkova, will play client of the agency, "who can't find common ground with her children."

Director Karen Oganesyan does not reveal other major actors, who will participate in the project, but he had negotiations with Anna Mikhalkova, Maxim Matveyev, Taisiya Vilkova and other famous actors. Andreichenko assures that "Karen gathered amazing actors, and I have no doubt that he will succeed." And if nothing goes wrong, filming will begin in September.

Working title of the project is "Mary Poppins - My Mother!". It takes place in the near future. "I will manage nanny recruitment and placement agency. According to the plot, one mother will seek our help - she will be played by actress Svetlana Khodchenkova," Natalia Andreichenko said.

Filming will mostry take place in Moscow. According to producers' estimates, film should bring about 150 million rubles. Vestnik Kavkaza asked famous Russian actor, filmmaker, screenwriter and producer Yegor Konchalovsky whether this will be the first step towards revival of Russian children's cinema.

"Mary Poppins" is a classic of Western children's literature, so this is not just a remake of classic Soviet film. Soviet film was an adaptation, and I perfectly remember this film. It's a children's movie, and our cinema has always been famous for children's movies. So I have nothing bad to say about it: it is possible, if it will be done well and will be promoted in the market, that this movie will be successful," he said.
