Russia's Prosecutor General promises anti-corruption purge in Dagestan

During his visit to Makhachkala, Russia's Prosecutor General Yury Chaika instructed all prosecutor bodies of Dagestan to take necessary steps to in all areas that are subjected to corruption.

He specified that it's necessary to find out the source of money, used to build "biggest houses" that belong to republican officials.

In addition, Prosecutor General called allocation of land one of the most corrupt areas in Dagestan. "You should pay additional attention to areas that are subjected to greatest corruption risks. First of all, you should pay attention to work of the agencies responsible for allocating land," he instructed.

Moreover, Prosecutor General drew attention to embezzlement of funds фтв grants for development of agro-industrial complex and small businesses, as well as finances provided for medical insurance and to improve employment rate.

"When it comes to above mentioned areas. it's necessary to carry out all activities openly, in contact with population and public organizations," Chaika added.

He stressed that any work on combating corruption has to "begin with anti-corruption expertise of all legal acts."
