Russia's Supreme Court to consider Said Amirov's life sentence

The Supreme Court of Russia will hear the appeal of the former mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov's sentence, the spokeswoman of the North Caucasus District Military Court, Alena Katkalo, said.

In August 2015 the North Caucasus Military Court has sentenced Said Amirov to a life-term in jail for terrorism. His nephew Yusuf Dzhaparov was sentenced to 18 years in prison. They are suspected of murdering the Acting Chief Investigator of the Sovetsky District of Makhachkala, Arsen Gajibekov, and organizing a terrorist attack at the Moskva Trade and Recreation Complex in Kaspiysk, RIA Novosti reminds. The defendants didn’t admit their guilt.

Earlier, the court sentenced Amirov and Dzhaparov to 10 and 8.5 years in prison, respectively, for plotting the assassination of the head of the department of the Pension Fund of Dagestan and the famous Russian wrestler, Olympic champion, Sagid Murtazaliev
