Sergey Syrtsov, the president of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (RWF) said on Thursday that he submitted a letter of resignation, TASS reports.
"I have applied for the resignation and Maxim Agapitov will be the acting president," Syrtsov said in an interview.
"My reasons? Somebody must be held responsible for what had happened and this is what I have done," Syrtsov, who held the post of the RWF president since 2010, added.
