Russian bombs closer to Daesh

Russia and Iran will fight against terrorists in Syria. This statement was made by Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani. "The Interaction between Tehran and Moscow in countering terrorism in Syria has a strategic nature. We must combine our capacities,’’ he said.

Commenting on the use of the Iranian Air Base in Hamadan by Russian military aircrafts during attack on Daesh militants, Shamkhani noted that Iran provides Russian Aerospace Forces with information and allows to use its infrastructure to attack Daesh militants.

Senior Researcher at Institute of Oriental Studies, Vladimir Sazhin, drew attention to the fact in an interview with a Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent that it is very convenient for the Russian aviation to use the Iranian air base in Hamedan.

"The distance from Mozdok to the objectives of attack is more than 2000 km. And only 800-900 km from Hamadan. It allows to use less fuel. According to experts, it is possible to take bombs and missiles three times as much. It is beneficial for our aviation,’’ the expert said.

The military observer at Tass, retired Colonel Victor Litovkin noted that it is much more convenient for Russian aircrafts to fly to Syria from Iran's air bases. "In this case, we need less fuel and we can carry more ammunitions. In addition, pilots don’t spend much time in the air and they have the ability to respond more quickly to the events, which take place in Syria," the expert said.

The head of the analytical department at Institute of Political and Military Analysis, Alexander Khramchikhin, pointed out that it was planned to use an Iranian airfield last year in September when Russia launched a military operation in Syria. The expert also noted that today Russia and Iran are tactical allies in Syria. "The countries have sufficiently high level of cooperation in this particular issue,’’ Alexander Khramchikhin concluded.
