First Deputy.Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces CED, Colonel-General Aleksandr Dvornikov, said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta that he led the Russian group in Syria, and added that the Russian operation in the country was a ground one to some extent.
"Our Special Operations Forces work on the territory of Syria. They perform additional exploration of projects for Russian air strikes, as well as they focus aircraft on targets in remote areas and solve other special tasks,’’ he said.
