Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and the chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces discussed the situation in the region in their phone call on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"The Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergey Shoigu, had a telephone call with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Karim Valiyev. The current situation in the region was discussed," the ministry said.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu also held a telephone call with Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan on Thursday.
"The defense ministers discussed the current situation in the region, as well as in the areas where Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh carry out their tasks," the ministry said.
