Russian female gymnasts win European Games in Baku
Russian female athletes Alia Mustafina, Victoria Komova and Seda Tutkhalyan have won in the Women's Artistic Gymnastics, scoring a total of 116.897 points. They won the seventh gold medal at the Games.
Valentina Rodionenko, the coach of the national team, said that the success of both Russian male and female gymnasts was proof that the national athletes were among the world's best in gymnastics. In her words, winning the European Games was a lot tougher than the European Championship, because all the national teams, save for the British team, consisted of the most skilled athletes. Moreover, she explained, the teams had only 3 athletes each, with only two of them scoring, TASS reports.
Germany won silver (110.397 points), the Netherlands won bronze (110.099 points).
Azerbaijan was ranked 13th. AzerbaijanI team members Yulia Inshina, Maria Nekrasova and Christina Pravdina scored 99.130 points.
