Russian government frees regions from payments on budget loans in 2020

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree freeing regions from budget payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the document, in 2021–2024, entities will have to pay five percent of the debt, and in the 2025–2029s the remaining amount in equal parts. There is also an opportunity for early repayment.

The regional authorities will be able to direct the funds received to the fight against COVID-19 and use them to compensate for the income reduction. These measures are designed to ensure the sustainability of the economy in a difficult socio-economic situation.

According to current statistics of the operational headquarters, over the past day in Russia, 10 102 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in 83 regions. Thus, the total number of patients with COVID-19 is 155,370. During the day,  1,770 people recovered, the total amount of recovered is 19,865. The number of deaths increased by 95 and amounted to 1,451.

Recall that last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended non-working days, taking into account the May holidays, until May 12.  Then, according to the head of state, restrictive measures can be gradually taken off.
