A probable cause of death of the Russian Major, whose body was found in a hostel in Yerevan, can be a heart failure. At the moment, the criminal proceedings have been instituted on account of the serviceman’s death, the press service of the Southern Military District (SMD) reports.
Previously, the law-enforcement bodies of Armenia reported that the body of a 45-year-old Major Victor Emelyanov was found on January 1st in one of the hotels in Yerevan.
According to the police statements, Emelyanov was a Major and deputy chief of staff of one of the military units of the Russian military base in Armenia.
The press service of the Southern Military District reported that according to the preliminary forensic examination, no traces of violence have been found on the body.
"According to preliminary data, a cause of death of the serviceman can be an acute heart failure,’’ the press-service reports.
At the moment, the command of the Russian military base in Armenia in cooperation with the law enforcement authorities establish the circumstances of the incident, the inquiry into his death has been started, RIA Novosti reports.
The SMD Russian airbase stationed at the Erebuni airport in Yerevan was formed in 1995. In December 2015 - February 2016, the Mi-24P attack helicopters and military transport Mi-8Mt helicopters were relocated to the airfield in Yerevan’s Erebuni from Russia.
