 Russian rhythmic gymnasts allowed to compete at Rio Olympics

The Russian rhythmic gymnastics team has been cleared by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to compete at the Rio Olympics, President of the All-Russia Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and chief coach, Irina Viner-Usmanova, said.

‘We received an official document from the FIG this morning on allowing our team to compete in its full composition at the Olympic Games," the chief coach said.

Russian individual rhythmic gymnasts will be represented by Yana Kudryavtseva and Margarita Mamun. In group exercises, the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team will comprise Anastasia Maximova, Anastasia Bliznyuk, Maria Tolkacheva, Anastasia Tatareva and Vera Biryukova.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has cleared the Russian artistic gymnastics team for competing at the Rio Olympics, President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation and FIG Vice-President Vasily Titov said.

"Yes, our team has been admitted in its full composition," TASS cited him a saying.

The Russian artistic gymnastics team will comprise Denis Ablyazin, David Belyavsky, Nikita Ignatiev, Nikolai Kuksenkov, Angelina Melnikova, Alia Mustafina, Nikita Nagorny, Maria Paseka, Darya Spiridonova, Seda Tutkhalyan, Natalia Kapitonova (reserve), Vladislav Polyashov (reserve) and Ivan Stretovich (reserve).
