The robot which can detect coronavirus rolled into Times Square in New York to help provide information about the new virus.

Promobot was created by a Philadelphia-based startup run by a group of Russians.

"We did a special software to detect coronavirus symptoms," Reuters cited the company’s chief business development officer, Oleg Kivorkutsev, as saying.

The robot asks if a person has common symptoms such a fever and the person has to hit 'yes' or 'no' on the touch screen, after which they receive a reassuring message if they chose no.

Alejandra Garcia, a tourist from La Rioja, Spain, said that the robot was "really cute" and provided a better understanding of the virus that has infected more than 28,000 people across the world. "It’s good for people to know what the symptoms of the coronavirus are," Garcia told The New York Post.

Nevertheless, the park administration decided that "such activity" is prohibited there.
