Russia’s FSB detains ISIS fundraisers in Tatarstan, Crimea

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained terrorist financiers in Tatarstan and Crimea, the FSB said in a statement.

"The FSB and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service have identified Russian nationals in Crimea and Tatarstan, involved in the funding of the ISIS international terrorist organization outlawed in Russia," the statement reads.

"Several people have been detained. In 2015-2019, they raised funds under the guise of a charitable organization and transferred money to militants overseas," TASS cited the FSB as saying.

Communication, computer and magnetic storage devices were seized during searches. Criminal cases have been opened under Articles 205.1.1.1 and 205.1.1.4 of the Russian Criminal Code (promotion of terrorist activities).
