Russia’s MMA fighter Volkov signs new contract with UFC

Russia’s heavyweight mixed martial arts fighter Alexander Volkov has signed a new contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the fighter told TASS on Wednesday.

The Russian is scheduled to hold his next bout on June 26 at the UFC tournament in Las Vegas against Cyril Gane of France.

"It will be my first fight under the new contract. The fight purse has been definitely increased. It [the purse] is a bit higher, and the contract provisions are better," Volkov said without giving further information about his new UFC contract, TASS reported.

Volkov’s 31-year-old opponent Cyril ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane boasts a professional record of eight wins in all of his fights (three by KO/TKO, three by submission, and two by decision).

Alexander ‘Drago’ Volkov, 32, has a professional record of 33 wins (22 by KOs, three by submissions, and eight by decisions) and eight defeats.

Last time Volkov fought on February 6, 2021, against Dutch mixed martial arts heavyweight fighter Alistair Overeem. Volkov won the UFC Fight Night 184 event fight in Las Vegas against Overeem with a technical knockout (TKO) in the second round. The Dutch MMA fighter was diagnosed with a nasal bone fracture after the bout.
