Russia’s new National Security Strategy draft was discussed at a meeting of the Council’s interdepartmental commission for strategic planning, the Security Council’s press service said.

"The participants excluded the country’s isolation from the outside world, noting that an active foreign policy, the development of cooperation with other countries, attracting foreign investment and technology should complement our own efforts to modernize the economy and strengthen the national security of the Russian Federation," the press service added.

The strategic planning documents are adjusted every six years. The current Russian National Security Strategy had been approved in 2009 by Dmitry Medvedev.
