Saudi Airlines plane isolated at Manila airport after false hijack alarm

A Saudi Arabian Airlines plane landed in Manila airport after accidentally sending out a distress call over a ‘hijacking threat.’

Flight 872 was reportedly travelling from the Saudi Red sea city of Jeddah when the pilot raised the false alarm which the sent the Philippines Airport into lockdown.

Reports suggest the pilot told air traffic control that the plane was under threat.

The aircraft was held in total isolation on the runway at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.

The plane was carrying return pilgrims from the annual journey to Mecca.

The Manila International Airport Authority confirmed the flight had been isolated for security protocol, the Sun reports.
