The Ministry of Education of the North Caucasus reported that almost all the schools of the North Caucasus Federal District are ready for the new school year. Specialists from the State Fire Control, the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science checked schools, paying special attention to counter-terrorism security.
The authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria allocated 37 million rubles to provide schools with anti-terrorist protection and fire safety systems means. "The allocated funds provided 137 educational facilities with video monitoring systems," the Minister of Education and Science of Kabardino-Balkaria, Nina Emuzova, said.
Chechnya and Karachaevo-Cherkessia are faced with an unexpected problem before the start of the school year - several schools were damaged by strong winds, rain and hail on August 26-27. "Roofs will be reconstructed in the next few days, and all the schools will be open on September 1," the Minister of Education and Science of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, Inna Kravchenko, said.
A three-shift education has been one of the biggest problems in the North Caucasus for a long time, the issue remains relevant for a few republics, where new schools are being built and existing facilities are being reconstructed.
This year Ingushetia plans to build and reconstruct 21 schools, which will solve the issue in the republic. "There will be more schools working in first shift. We plan to commission 21 educational institutions in the republic," the head of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science, Sergey Kravtsov, told TASS.
The Chechen authorities plan to open 19 new schools. "The number of pupils attending schools in the third shift in the 2016-2017 academic year will decrease by 6 thousand 289 people due to the opening of new schools and we expect the same reduction in the number of students attending schools in the second shift," the head of administration of the head of the Chechen government, Islam Kadyrov, said.
Karachay-Cherkessia will open three new schools on September 1. The Krasnodar region plans to completely eliminate the second shift in the schools by 2020, which requires creation of more than 100 thousand new training places, the governor of Karachay-Cherkessia Veniamin Kondratyev said.
The ageing and shortage of personnel is another problem not only for the North Caucasus, but also for the whole of Russia. Most regions of the North Caucasus Federal District introduced their own measures to support young teachers - grants and subsidies, accommodation, targeted training in universities, higher wages.
