Scotland sees its future as part of EU

The Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said the people of Scotland see their future as part of the European Union.

"I want to make it absolutely clear today that I intend to take all possible steps and explore all options to give effect to how people in Scotland voted, in other words to secure our continuing place in the EU and in the single market," Reuters cited her as saying.

Some 52% of UK citizens (17.41 million people) voted on Thursday for leaving the European Union, while 48% (16.14 million) were in favor of remaining part of the bloc. In total, the referendum was attended by more than 33.5 million people.
