The Second European Games have been launched in Minsk today. The competitions will take place till June 30.
The competitions will take place at different sports venues throughout the city. In total, more than 4,000 athletes will compete for 200 medal sets.
There are 15 kinds of sports in the programme: archery, athletics, badminton, basketball 3x3, beach football, boxing, canoe sprint, cycling, gymnastics, judo, karate, sambo, shooting, table tennis and wrestling. Eight of the sports will offer qualification opportunities for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Dynamo Stadium today at 20:00 local time.
The First European Games were held on June 12-28, 2015 in Baku.
